ANOTHER GOOD TURNOUT FOR A GREAT COMPETITION, SOURED SOMEWHAT BY THE MIDWEEK LEAGUE DEMANDING THAT THE MANOR HAD TO PLAY THE OLD DURHAMS OR FORFEIT 5 POINTS, WHICH MEANT THAT DEFENDING CHAMPION RAY HUTCHINSON WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND TILL LATER ON IN THE NIGHT. A GOOD STANDARD OF DARTS WAS SEEN IN THE EARLY STAGES OF THE COMPETITION WITH BRIAN ADAMS LEE FANNON AND PETER GALE THROWING SOME GOOD DARTS TO COME THROUGH THE PRE LIMS, THE GOOD STANDARD CONTINUED ALL NIGHT THE LATER STAGES SEEING SOME GREAT MATCH UPS, THE LAST 16 ONWARDS WENT LIKE THIS, EDDIE JOHNSON IN FINE FORM DEFEATING BILL BRADLEY, JOHN ILLINGWORTH ROLLING BACK THE YEARS TO BEAT A REJUVENATED PAUL BROUGH, TONY MANDRY BEATING TEAM MATE PETER EGLINTINE IN A CRACKER, DAVE ABBOTT PLAYING REALLY WELL AGAIN TO DEFEAT EDDIE HUGHES, STEVEN TURNER LOST TO S FIBSON, BROTHER ROB TURNER DEFEATING AN IN FORM MARK ROBSON, PAUL ROBINSON SCRAPING THROUGH AGAINST BRIAN ADAMS IN AN ABSOLUTE BEAUTY, AND LEE FANNON THROWING SOME GREAT DARTS TO BEAT LEE HAMMOND.

LAST 8 SAW DAVEY HUNTER LOSE TO DENNIS COLEMAN WHO WAS PLAYING REALLY WELL. JOHN HARDMAN THEN BEAT ROB

BATTLE OF THE MICKS SAW MICK EVANS DEFEAT MICK BURNS 3-1 IN A TIGHT AFFAIR, AND FINALLY BARRY HUNTER DEFEATED RAY HUTCHINSON 3-2 IN A BATTLE OF THE MANOR LADS IN A BRILLIANT MATCH WITH BARRY JUST EDGING OUT GOOD FRIEND RAY.
SEMI FINALS SAW DENNIS COLEMAN BEAT JOHN HARDMAN 4-2 IN ANOTHER SOUND DISPLAY FROM DENNIS WHO WAS NOW LOOKING AWESOME. BARRY HUNTER GOT THE BETTER OF MICK EVANS IN THE 2ND SEMI FINAL 4-2 ALSO.
THE FINAL SAW BARRY GO OFF LIKE A TRAIN STORMING INTO A 3-1 LEAD IN THE BEST OF 9 FINAL WITH DENNIS LOOKING VERY POOR, BUT, JUST LIKE A LOT OF US KNOW WHAT DENNIS IS REALLY CAPABLE OF, HE THEN STARTED HIS FIGHTBACK AND A STUNNED BARRY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS DENNIS WENT ON TO WIN 5-3 AND BECOME THE FIRST PLAYER FROM OUT OF TOWN TO TAKE THE TITLE,  DENNIS WINNING £150 AND THE MASSIVE TROPHY WITH SOME BRILLIANT DARTS.
